Joining the Session
We will use an online studio called Riverside for recording for high quality video and audio. No need to download anything. Sign in 5 minutes before start so we can test audio and video setup, and ensure you look and sound great.
Please ensure you have:
- A stable, fast internet connection. - A quiet, well-lit space for recording. - A quality microphone and webcam. - Headphones or earbuds to avoid echo.
For best results, close all apps. Ensure your computer is plugged in and charging. Use up-to-date Chrome or Edge browser.
Lighting & Camera
Avoid looking down at the camera.
Eye-level: Prop your laptop or mobile device on top of something (stack of books). Please try to look directly at the camera while speaking so the audience can connect with you.
- Main light source in front of you: Open window, natural light, or lamp with softened light - Avoid bright light behind you: Can blow out background and/or darken your face - Your face should fill most of the screen: Top of your head near the top of the screen
Audio & Ambient Noise
Use a microphone & wear headphones. Even a $10 plug-in microphone and earphones is better than the default microphone on your computer. If you have better equipment, that is welcome.
- Avoid being near noisy distractions - Turn fans (including ceiling fans) off - Sit where the A/C is not blowing directly on your microphone.
